Squash numbers are holding up well with the majority of the players taking part in the internal leagues. In the Sussex League the first and second teams did well in Division 1 East and West, the fifths finished mid-table and the thirds and fourths struggled, finishing bottom of their divisions.
In the Annual Tournament Sam Hanbury completed the double of the Mens and Veterans trophies in tremendous matches while Sarah Naish just retained the ladies. Other winners were Dave Jump in the B, Dave Beecroft in the C, Gary Hewer in the D, Martin Dutton in the E and Ian Wilson in the SuperVets.
The Handicap Tournament is underway and is going well. Unfortunately, Nic Davies who has done so much for Junior coaching at Weald left for a proper job this season. We are grateful to Curtis Malik who has taken over the junior coaching and Downlands sessions on Wednesdays.
As always I would like to thank Chris Skingsley for keeping the internal leagues in order and the squash committee members, especially Trevor Morgan who has been Fixtures Secretary for 35 years. I would also like to thank reception for booking various courts for matches and competitions and keeping the bar open for a much needed refresher after our games.
